AIN'T TEETHING

London five-piece Ain’t have returned with their second single, ‘Teething’. This track sees the band expand on the dynamic darkness of their first, ‘Oar’, with the blending influence of both British and American post-punk and shoegaze coming to define their sound. They aren’t afraid of prioritising the stranger side of these musical movements either, with memorable hooks intertwining above a driving sense of tense unease in the guitar-led accompaniment. They describe the track as being “about vying for someone’s attention when they couldn’t care less – and how the sting of that rejection isn’t so much a sting, but a persistent throbbing, like toothache.” You can catch the band live around the UK over the course of the rest of 2024. -Dan Peeke
